What is SPEED™?
Founded in 2013 by Justin Eisenhofer, SPEED™ provides the highest quality training program for swimmers. We use cutting edge tools and evidence based research to maximize performance in the pool while minimizing injury risk. We train smarter and harder while continuously striving to foster a lifelong love of the sport.
Our staff is composed of medical professionals, educators, coaches, and personal trainers. Combining ideas in many aspects of sports, education, and experience has helped to develop the SPEED™ program. Each program is designed to foster developmental progress appropriate to the individual’s skill level. We are constantly evolving and fostering growth through research-based ideas and success-defined outcomes.
The SPEED™ principle begins from day one of training. The training emphasis is focused on the individual’s limitations as evidenced by our research proven screening process. Injury prevention, movement coordination, and swimming specific strengthening are included in each session.
We pride ourselves on educating the whole swimming family which includes swimmers, parents, and coaches. In our experience the best results are achieved when there is a “team” focus and direction. This allows all members of the “team” to strive for the same goals and success.
Our Story
SPEED™ was developed by Masters Level swimmer Justin Eisenhofer. Justin has been a competitive swimmer since grade school, but it was during his time swimming at the Division 1 collegiate level that he began to question exactly what he was being asked to do during his training sessions and why he was being asked to do it. After his collegiate career was over, Justin remained at school, pursuing a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy and helping to coach the team that he used to train with. While doing research for his advanced degree, he learned a tremendous amount about what this information proposed vs. his firsthand knowledge and the movement patterns that he witnessed both in the pool and the p/t facility. The questions that he started having during his collegiate career began to re-surface. Fast forward a few years and Justin is now a practicing physical therapist, occasionally working with swimmers to both treat and prevent injuries. In addition to treating these swimmers, he found himself naturally suggesting ways to help them swim faster. Working with these patients fostered an urge for Justin to get back into the pool himself. Now a Masters Level swimmer and busy physical therapist with a family, he no longer had 20+ hours per week to devote to training. He had to recall all of his doctoral research and try to answer all of the questions that he raised to himself throughout the years, focusing on efficiency to maximize the four to five hours a week that he could spare. The results? He was simply amazed at what training smarter could do and he imagined how different his athletic career could have been if someone could have taught him these skills years ago. The spark for SPEED™ was ignited! Today's programs promote developmental skills from a young age, but with Justin's signature spin on training. As swimmers progress in their careers, the program adapts with them to evolve in tandem with their skills. Justin will tell you that he loves the sport of swimming now far more than when he was competing and his goal is that he is able to instill that same feeling in all of the swimmers who train with him, starting at a young age.
